CES 2010 saw of the release of another fine Prolific Bridge Controller chip.
First out of the Gate The PL2771 is the first Prolific USB3.0 based product to be released. As a low-power, single-chip, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATAII compliant bridge controller, PL2771 has been designed to perform seamless protocol transfers between the USB 3.0 host and SATAII interface device.
Speed as a Factor The PL2771 is capable of data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps in bandwidth, a 10x performance increase over Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (480Mbps). PL2771 is fully backward compatible to all USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 host/hub controllers and will operate flawlessly in conjunction with any attached USB host/hub connection, regardless of speed.
Performance as the Goal As part of it's winning design, PL2771 is an embedded high performance 8-bit microcontroller which can be used to support versatile system applications such as one button backup, power control, and a variety of other USB device features. The versatile PL2771 is implemented according to the USB Mass Storage Class driver and UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol).
